Cursor is an AI editor: a visual workspace where an AI assistant thinks along while you see your whole Salesforce project in front of you. You don't work 'blind' — you watch along at every step and steer. That's exactly what makes it ideal for learning and getting comfortable. In practice you use it to:

Officially supported by Salesforce

Good news: this isn't a workaround. Since 2026, Salesforce offers official, secure connections (Salesforce calls them 'hosted MCP servers') that let AI tools talk to your environment safely. It runs on an open standard that visual AI editors like Cursor use.

And exactly as we recommend: Salesforce supports this connection for isolated practice environments (sandboxes) too. You or your admin also decide which data and actions are available.

Privacy and security in practice

Working safely with Cursor is a habit, not a coincidence. Stick to these principles:

No customer data — use only test or anonymized data
Separate environment — production and experiments stay apart
Always read along — you assess every proposal before you apply it
Protect your access — keep credentials and keys out of sight
Limited access — the AI can never do more than you're allowed to; your permissions stay in charge
